When I began working toward completing my undergraduate degree in music at Augsburg College in the fall of 2005, I was informed that I would be required to complete a recital during my senior year. Being a composer as well as a performer, I decided the best option would be to perform music not only written by other composers, but to perform some of my original compositions as well. I completed the first draft of the sonata the summer before my senior year of college. This was the music that was heard at my recital in December of 2007. The edition for sale here has undergone several alterations, and was published in 2010 by Beznau Publishing. The recording you can hear on this page features my wife, Kate Schumann, on Trumpet, and myself at the piano.
